Gizem Candan is a contemporary artist who was born in Istanbul, Turkey. She studied in art and design. Productive learning within different disciplines helps to shape her art. She uses various techniques like oil painting, digital and printed works. She thinks that artists should not limit themselves with the technique. Instead, they should feel free when they create.

Her art focuses on human and human behaviors. Therefore, the area that she can play is endless. The mistakes, goodness, values, emotions made by humankind are all great treasures. In her works, she sometimes aims to give a pleasant feeling, sometimes to criticize, sometimes to make them see their reflections. She usually works with series. Some of the series she focuses on are; “They’re just viewers”, “Comfort Zone” and “Empath”. She currently lives and works in Toronto, Canada.
